The second coming of winter made us all wonder wtf is going on – and your skin is likely a little shocked, too. Right? For those of us feeling a little dry and dull complexion-wise, it’s time to let our good friend pot take over. Here’s a fun fact: topically applied, THC is an antioxidant and can combat fine lines and wrinkles, and, scientists are actually looking into whether it could combat skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
In addition to the anti-aging component, oils derived from the hemp plant are generally super-nourishing and protecting – it’s high in vitamins A, C and E, and the omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids that skin readily absorbs. No wonder pot has been called the biggest thing for skincare in 2018. Using it for your skin could be a game-changer for your post-winter beauty routine.
Ready for a lift in the skincare department? Here’s a high-vibe face mask recipe to try:
- 1 ripe avocado
- 1/4 cup THC oil (or hempseed oil, if you like)
- 2 tsp. spirulina powder (this is optional, but you could also use bentonite clay powder if that’s on hand)
- Several drops essential oil of your choice (optional)
- Open, de-pit, and remove avocado meat and place into a big glass bowl.
- Add in the cannabis oil.
- Add the spirulina or bentonite clay powder if using, and mash to combine.
Before spreading mixture evenly over your face, cleanse and dry. If you like, steam your skin to open your pores and let those healthy fats in. To steam your face, bring some water to a boil and pour into a big bowl. With the bowl in front of you, drape a towel over the back of your head to cover the bowl. Allow the steam to penetrate your pores for 10 minutes or so.
Now you’re ready to mask! Apply the mask mixture to your still-warm face and neck evenly, with fingers. Chill for 20 minutes, play your most relaxing playlist, have a scroll through our blog, and then rinse off with warm water. Emerge back into the world infinitely more high-vibe.
