Weekly Trim by Kameran: Have Your Weed Brownie and Eat It Too

0

Greetings and Salutations! It’s Friday and time for the weekly “health” trim.

This week I sat down with Olivia and Jordan from Baked Lady Company– two foodies that are pushing the boundaries on creating and baking edibles that have positive impacts on your body, mind and soul and I was inspired.

I had no idea there was this whole new movement of “Whole Food” edibles that are being made with antioxidants, omega-3s and other organic components that can contribute to overall health.

I’m not a purest by any stretch, but like to eat healthy and I love edibles, and after hearing their story, I can’t help but wonder, why have I only been consuming the fat- and sugar-packed cannabis treats (gummies, brownies, cupcakes, cookies)?

These popular cannabis edibles are loaded with sugar and other refined empty caloric additives that can cause inflammation (and weight gain) that could potentially cancel out all of the positive effects of cannabis.

Ugh!! Why haven’t I embraced the new trend of infused cannabis superfoods?!

A “superfood” technically has no legal definition, but according to the Macmillan Dictionary it can be applied to any food that’s “considered to be very good for your health and that may even help some medical conditions.”

So, I’ve curated a list of the best-made, widely available and wholesome selection of cannabis edibles from companies that have devoted themselves to creating cannabis-infused foods that combine cannabis with other superfood ingredients for maximum healing and vitality.

There are also tons of recipes out there if you are so inclined to make your own. I like Wake + Bake.

You’re Welcome.

Quote of the Week

“I just want to help people achieve a better quality of life.” Jennessa Lea, better known known as Fit Cannabis Girl who had her dreams squashed this week when the city of Wheat Ridge, CO suspended the business license of her small business, Break the Stigma Fitness, a marijuana-friendly gym (in the basement of her home) after a national news story brought too much attention.

She’s asking the community for support, check out her story here.

Final Hit

Calling all athletes, you have two more weeks to train for the 3rd Annual Colorado 420 Games.  On June 23rd, professional athletes, families and thousands of other healthy Cannabis users gather for a day of athletics and comradery at Infinity Park in Glendale, CO.

There is a 4.20 mile sprint, decathlon, speeches from pro athletes and a beer tasting garden from Lagunitas Brewery.

Lazy stoners need not apply.
