This week we sat down with Lace Piscitelli, the genius behind Ox and Plow, a cannabis marketing think-tank based in Phoenix, AZ.  Lace is crushing it as an entrepreneurial hustler that helps cannabis brands navigate the new world with market research, website design and brand development.

Lace also supports fellow women entrepreneurs by hosting an awesome #ganjaboss weekly potcast. Check it out here.

How did you come up with the idea for Ox and Plow? What were you doing before?

I started Ox & Plow with the desire to create an elegant way of presenting a cannabis owned business discreetly. Because I believe that we don’t need to use a weed leaf to represent the industry. It does an incredible job of that on its own and I really wanted to embody that with Ox & Plow to keep it focused on the business of cannabis.

Can you tell us about some of the brands or companies you work with?

I have worked with Blue Dream Brides an incredible cannabis wedding and event company also women-owned and operated by Jasmine Rundall a badass ganjaboss. Tiller Agency an amazing cannabis marketing agency based out of Portland, Oregon by an incredible entrepreneur and businesswoman Jess Columbo. And Kush and Cute a cannabis skincare line owned by the lovely Iyana.

You offer a number of services for cannabis brands and companies, including web design, branding, social media, graphic/vlog design and influencer marketing. What has been your favorite project so far?

Honestly, my podcast. I love talking with other women and sharing their stories through voice, and the power that has with and the influence it deploys to other women in the space.

What were some of the things that you learned unexpectedly since starting Ox and Plow?  What was the reaction of your peers?

So much has happened since starting my business, I started it in the midst of ending a four-year relationship with my ex-fiance. I started it with zero funding and continue to work fulltime while supporting it. Business is hard, and the industry as a whole is very competitive. I think the one thing I have learned is to stay focused and not pay attention to the noise meaning anyone or anything around me, I have really learned that this business hard just like the business is in general. The more work you put into it is what will ultimately be what you get back in time. It doesn’t happen overnight.

How did you get introduced to cannabis, and is it a part of your everyday life?

For me, I was going through severe depression in 2015 and even worse severe anxiety, to the point I couldn’t even drive to the grocery store a mile down the road. After almost committing suicide in the fall of 2015 I went to the doctor and they prescribed me medication. I took it home and did research on the ingredients of the prescribed medication and come to find out the main ingredients side effects were thoughts of suicide. The main reason why I went to the doctor so I threw the bottle away, never took one. and started research natural medicines and found CBD. I went to a dispensary that night and had my first strain of “Remedy” from that point on my anxiety decreased at such a rate within the first three weeks of smoking twice a day I was able to drive again, I lost weight, the thoughts subsided, I started cooking again, I got out of a bad relationship, Everything changed. I then started to smoke sativa blends which is what I mostly smoke today, both medicinally and recreationally.

What is your favorite cannabis Holiday memory?

For me, I can’t say I have a favorite, because each one has such a significance to my life and business today and has made me so incredibly grateful!

Where are you located? What’s the weed scene like there?

I am based in Phoenix, Arizona and hope to make it Northern California where I can work on a CBD based product I am currently developing along with my business partner. The scene in Phoenix is an incredible community and one I hope to forever stay apart of, because the women here especially Jasmine Rundall of Blue Dream Brides has been such a positive impact on me and my business.
