This week we sat down with our favorite #girlboss Khara Pechtes of Food Flower Future to talk about her upcoming cannabis infused soirée.
Khara, you are about to host your 5th cannabis infused dinner event with Chef Emily Anderson of Plant Based Collective in Los Angeles on Saturday, May 11th from, 7-10 p.m. It’s really quite a remarkable accomplishment in such a short time. Tell us how the event evolved and where you seeing it going in the future.
I love food and hosting a good party. It’s a huge responsibility to produce an event, I know how much time and effort goes into creating an exceptional evening with satisfied guests. After attending several events that were lacking in different areas, I knew I could produce a more creative, inviting, and successful event to share with others. We would love to launch a calendar with a year’s worth of events that leave people inspired, wanting more, and continue to connect to those in their community. We plan to partner with specific brands, as an exclusive focus to produce their own event and help launch their new product, create brand awareness with a theme, delicious food, with class and sophistication. It’s all in the details.
Indeed, it’s all in the details! Your guests will enjoy a (10 mg), Asian inspired, five-course cannabis infused dinner created by Chef Emily Anderson and using seasonal veggies from Imperfect Produce. Chef Emily is the master of pairing each course with the best flower to highlight the specific combination of food and flavors. And I hear there will be a DJ at the next event! But, what has been your favorite moment that has happened at one of the past events?
Seeing everyone smiling, laughing, enjoying themselves, and people telling me that they had such a good time and asking when the next event will be. Hearing from people I meet, “Oh you’re the one who produces Food Flower Future, cool, I want to go!” and “great feedback from guests that have tried products after learning about them from FFF.”
You’ve got an incredible group of sponsors! Imperfect Produce, Therapeutic Synergy, High Style, Sacred Beauty, Baceae, Aloha Humboldt, Flow Kana, Hakuna, Canna Reign, Madera Wood to Burn, Ritual and Rose, Fenix CBD and b.Blunt. Tell me more about them. How do they interact during the event?
We have so much respect for all who are leaders in this community, creating and introducing new ways to consume cannabis. We seek out sponsors in all categories, whether it be the actual flower or in the form of tinctures, edibles, infused drinks, or skin care lines. Sponsors who partner with us are given a platform to be featured at our dinners either infused in the food or as a part of the gift bags. One representative is usually present to speak to our guests to educate and answer questions, we love to give cannabis entrepreneurs a voice, and their presence is an up close and personal touch for our intimate events.
If you could invite 3 people (dead or alive) to your May 11th dinner. Who would you invite?
Dennis Peron, an activist and businessman, for medical marijuana. He became a leader in the movement for the legalization of cannabis in the 1990s until his death in 2018. Cat Packer, Executive Director of the Los Angeles Department of Cannabis Regulation. And Jeff Chen MD/MBA, a researcher at the UCLA Cannabis Research Initiative, the first-of-its-kind university program for studying cannabis, (and especially because I’m a Bruin!)
